Four stars bc the grinder gets my dog up and moving. The snipping side is nice

For cat and dog nails. Clip the tip, then smooth the edge with the built-in grinder.
Developed with a veterinarianIn a study of clients at a subsidized grooming program, nail trimming was the task owners felt least sure about, and 45% named fear of hurting their pet as a barrier. Read the study.
Bad light makes you guess. In a dim room it's hard to see where the nail ends and the quick starts.
A fresh cut leaves an edge. That rough tip snags on carpet, furniture and you.
So the trim gets skipped. Then you're paying about $10 to $30 per visit for a job that takes minutes. Typical US prices.

We developed this tool with the help of Dr. Ruth Mercer.
“I'd clip the tip first, then flip the tool over to smooth the edge with the built-in grinder. The LED lights up the nail while you line up the cut.”
Dr. Ruth Mercer

The quick is the living part of the nail. Cut into it and the nail bleeds and hurts, so every trim is about staying past it.
Light nails: you can see the pink. Stay well clear of it.
Dark nails: even with the LED you can't see the quick. Take tiny snips from the tip and stop early.
Cats: press the paw pad gently to extend the nail, then take about 1 to 2 mm off the tip.
Plenty of listings sell the guard as a promise. Here is what it does on a real paw.

Four stars bc the grinder gets my dog up and moving. The snipping side is nice
Miranda Lawson
Feels sturdy where you squeeze it
Catherine Miller
Fast delivery. I was expecting to have to wait until next week to do his paws
Abigail Jimenez
They got it here in time to put it in my sister's birthday bag. I ended up using it on her dog before I left the party
Yvonne Thompson
The charger is easy to find in the box if you lift the cardboard all the way up
Crystal Hansen
Bought for my sister. She liked it enough to ask me to send the name to her friend
Holly Lewis
I ordered it mostly for the light. I have a black lab and in our living room it still doesn't tell me much. I took him over to the window like I always do. The clipper did fine on the front feet once I got him settled. On the back I had to keep turning my wrist to see the nail, which is the whole problem I wanted it to fix.
Javier Reynolds
Much less fuss at nail time.
Julia Hart
Tried it with a 9 lb cat and a 40 lb dog. Works fine on either.
Yvonne George
Great for smoothing where I clipped at a weird angle
Jacob Collins
I could see the end of the nail for once
Ian Drake
Took me a minute to find the cable in the box. The packaging could make that clearer
Valeria Lin
Did the claw that kept snagging when my cat walked across the couch. She barely noticed.
Stephanie Simmons
I can see enough to do the cat's nails without taking my chair right up to the window
Rosa Dixon
Package got to us in a few days. It's been a couple of trims now and the cut feels the same as the first day.
Austin Lawrence
Easy to hold and very sharp!
Dominique Huang
still figuring out the back feet. works really well on the front ones
Anita George
Clips well. Box arrived open on one side, though luckily the cord was still there
Ava Barrett
they finally came and i love them
Melissa Torres
Can't believe my dog was chill with the grinder. She usually sees the old one and disappears into her crate.
William Campbell
Great cuts on my cat's claws. I use the grinder after clipping if they still feel a little sharp.
Sonia Lane
Really happy with it for my little terrier
Rachel Alexander
Works fine on our poodle mix. Easier to see with the built in light
Scott Cruz
I like having one less cord to deal with at nail time.
Martin Reed
Came in before we went camping. Threw it in the bag with the leash and wound up needing it on the second day
Eduardo Griffin
Holds a charge well for the way I use it, a couple of claws each weekend
Gary Weaver
the packaging was nicer than i expected
Allison Snyder
Tried the cutter as soon as I opened it. I'm happy with it.
Fatima Welch
great for doing the little hook at the end
Robert Wright
Nice little snip with hardly any pressure.

It had enough charge for one round straight from the box. I'll plug it in before I do the next one
Wendy Wallace
I get one try at that little nail high up on my terrier's foot. This makes it easier to line up on the first go
Danielle Rivera
Works on Pickles. Pickles is very upset I've shared that
Ariana Douglas
Arrived boxed up well and the blade was in good shape.
Cassandra Jimenez
Bit louder than I expected it to be. We used it on the older dog and switched back to regular clippers for the puppy.
Fiona Smith
cute little thing, sharp too
Courtney Patel
Tracking didn't update until the morning it showed up. The trim went fine, just glad it actually got here.
Valeria Howard
good stuff. dog still mad
Rafael Alvarez
Good for smaller hands like mine
Gabriel Griffin
Order got here in time for the weekend, thanks!
Melissa Austin
Been keeping it in the nightstand where the cat likes to hang out. A quick clip when she dozes off has worked well for us
Amber Howell
I have a 14 year old cat with those nails that get thick at the ends. I was expecting to have to squeeze twice. Got the first one in one go.
Kevin Olson
Didn't think a clipper would make much difference. With the old one I had to kind of rock it back and forth to get through the nail. This one just goes snip
Hunter Ortiz
Shipped to a PO box with no trouble. The size is great for the little travel bag I use for the dog.
Daniela Robinson
Snips clean, file works, that's about all I needed
Craig Thompson
The little light is a big help at night
Maya Huang
The order arrived on a snowy day and the little box inside was dry. Put it to work the next night
Savannah Wallace
The dog didn't mind the buzz if I let him see the tool before I took his foot.
Juan Hudson
The battery thing is my favorite feature. It's like a little gas gauge. No more guessing how long it's been since I charged it
Alexis Baldwin
came friday, dog got a pedicure saturday
Jeremiah Wells
Four short steps. Go slow, and count one nail as a win.
For a few days, touch the paws at a calm moment and give a treat.
Good light, a treat within reach, styptic powder on the table.
Snip the tip of one nail, flip the tool and smooth the edge.
End on a treat and finish the other nails tomorrow.
It happens, even to careful owners. Stay calm, since your pet reads your reaction.
Press styptic powder onto the nail with firm pressure for about 30 seconds. Cornstarch or flour works in a pinch, though not as well. If the bleeding won't stop, call your vet.
Most tools clip or grind. This one does both, so you buy once and keep one thing in the drawer.

No guard can promise that. It limits how far the nail goes in. Small snips from the tip are what keep you clear of the quick.
Stay calm. Press styptic powder on with firm pressure for about 30 seconds. Cornstarch or flour works in a pinch, though not as well. If the bleeding won't stop, call your vet.
Yes. It charges by USB, the cable is in the box, and the screen shows the battery left.
Yes. Take only the very tip on small nails. The tool is [OVERALL LENGTH] long.
Owners of dogs with very thick nails that won't fit the cutting head. If nails are badly overgrown, cracked or curling into the pad, see your vet first.
You can't see the quick in a dark nail, even with the LED, so take tiny snips from the tip and stop early. Trimming a little more often beats taking a lot at once.
You can, though a second pair of hands helps with a squirmy pet. Some solo owners hold a cat between their knees. Start with one nail at a sitting.
Many dogs need a trim every few weeks, and indoor pets that don't wear their nails down may need it sooner. If you hear clicking on a hard floor, it's time. Your vet can set a schedule for your pet.
