The grinder has a higher pitch than my old one. Our older cat doesn't care, our younger one sure does

For cat and dog nails. Clip the tip, then smooth the edge with the built-in grinder.
Developed with a veterinarianIn a study of clients at a subsidized grooming program, nail trimming was the task owners felt least sure about, and 45% named fear of hurting their pet as a barrier. Read the study.
Bad light makes you guess. In a dim room it's hard to see where the nail ends and the quick starts.
A fresh cut leaves an edge. That rough tip snags on carpet, furniture and you.
So the trim gets skipped. Then you're paying about $10 to $30 per visit for a job that takes minutes. Typical US prices.
Before
After
We developed this tool with the help of Dr. Ruth Mercer.
“I'd clip the tip first, then flip the tool over to smooth the edge with the built-in grinder. The LED lights up the nail while you line up the cut.”
Dr. Ruth Mercer

The quick is the living part of the nail. Cut into it and the nail bleeds and hurts, so every trim is about staying past it.
Light nails: you can see the pink. Stay well clear of it.
Dark nails: even with the LED you can't see the quick. Take tiny snips from the tip and stop early.
Cats: press the paw pad gently to extend the nail, then take about 1 to 2 mm off the tip.
Plenty of listings sell the guard as a promise. Here is what it does on a real paw.

The clipper is doing fine after a month of using it on both dogs.
Dennis Morris
I don't need to get two things out for one nail anymore.
George Sullivan
The delivery photo was of my neighbor's porch. Easy enough to get it back, but a hassle. My old lab sat fine for the cutter and we did his back paws the next day
Aaron Hicks
Sooo much easier than trying to get our kitten to hold still for the nail file
Alexis Sanchez
Why didn't I get a lighted one sooner??
Riley Barnes
Good enough for small nails. It took me several attempts to fit the thicker one into position.
Alyssa Alexander
Nice clipper! I just have to stop after a couple nails with the grinder. My dog won't sit any longer than that.
Barbara Brooks
I didn't realize how blunt the old pair had gotten until I used this
Katherine Andrews
tried it three times. nice cut, a little big for my hand
Mackenzie Knight
My hands are usually shaky around his paws. It helps that I don't need to push hard to clip the nail
Cole Soto
Had to peel some extra tape off the shipping box but inside was all good. Works fine.
Leo Jacobs
My mom did the cat's paws before I even got a chance to try it. Said she could actually see for once!!
Alan Nichols
Both sides are easy to hold on to. Tried it on my cat and she didn't even wake all the way up.
Helen Cruz
Better for the back claws than the short clippers I used to use
Rebecca Harper
First trim tonight. Got both front paws and then the dog decided he'd been generous enough.
Taylor Hamilton
Box was waiting at the end of the driveway in our parcel bin. Good shape, used it the same night
Caleb Quinn
Finally tried the grinder tonight. Easy to smooth a couple spots after the trim.
Diego Lawrence
They left mine by the side door. Once I found it, it was charged enough to try on my cat.
Natalie Chambers
really happy with how well it cuts
Deanna Olson
The grinder's easy to turn around and use on a nail with a rough edge
Aisha Murray
Shipping was quick and the carton stayed dry. I've already done two little trims with it.
Cynthia Chandler
Charge is lasting fine. The screen could be angled better
Carlos Lee
Got it as a replacement for the ones we lost when we moved. Much easier to hold.
Samuel Long
Delivry was quick! Took me longer to figure out the instructions than it took to get here
Miguel Collins
I gave the old file to my sister. The little one on this does the job fine for our dog.
Ana Larson
The grinder end makes quick work of the sharp edge my metal clippers leave on the cat's nails.
Todd Cannon
Left enough battery to do the cat again next week
Brianna Myers
One quick pass gets rid of the scratchy spot on the end of the nail.
Alan Perez
This is the first grinder I've had that I could use one-handed without feeling like I was going to drop it.
Scott Howard
I used it to smooth a corner that was scraping my arm when my dog jumped up. Took about a second
Cameron Warren
Very sharp and easy to control.
Brenda Thomas
Our two cats have pretty different claws. One has these narrow white hooks and the other has a couple of thick old claws. The cut looked clean on both.
Ava Medina
Smoothing on the dog took longer than I thought. Good for finishing the cat claws, though.
Carmen Delgado
The handle sits in my palm without feeling like it's going to slide forward when I squeeze
Josh Bradley
I can do most of a paw before my orange cat notices. I save the last claw for later.
Mariah Brooks
The thing was smaller than I thought when I opened the box, which is good. I've got tiny hands and the big orange trimmer my husband bought just sort of rolls around in them.
Hailey Chambers
Wasn't sure if the file would do much. It's good on the little hooks I leave when I clip at an angle
Jade Barker
Decent grip for somebody who drops everything
Brooke Wells
Love that little light. Our girl will only let me do her nails under the kitchen table of all places
Adrian Shelton
i thought itd be louder tbh... our dog just went back to sleep
Jenna Thompson
The cutter feels solid. I do one firm squeeze and the tip comes right off.
Julia Lin
Nicer than my last one.
Zoe Ellis
I got it mainly so I could see what I was doing. In our living room at night that's a real improvement
Brandon Castillo
Both cats stayed put?? 🙀
Vanessa Mason
Feels pretty sturdy for something this size
Christina Sutton
No trouble cutting the skinny white claws
Priya Soto
good grip even for my small hands
Holly Henderson
I can do the clipping part faster now, which is what I was after.
Josh Meyer
does what it says, grinder leaves more dust than i thought
Kayla Torres
Four short steps. Go slow, and count one nail as a win.
For a few days, touch the paws at a calm moment and give a treat.
Good light, a treat within reach, styptic powder on the table.
Snip the tip of one nail, flip the tool and smooth the edge.
End on a treat and finish the other nails tomorrow.
It happens, even to careful owners. Stay calm, since your pet reads your reaction.
Press styptic powder onto the nail with firm pressure for about 30 seconds. Cornstarch or flour works in a pinch, though not as well. If the bleeding won't stop, call your vet.
Most tools clip or grind. This one does both, so you buy once and keep one thing in the drawer.

No guard can promise that. It limits how far the nail goes in. Small snips from the tip are what keep you clear of the quick.
Stay calm. Press styptic powder on with firm pressure for about 30 seconds. Cornstarch or flour works in a pinch, though not as well. If the bleeding won't stop, call your vet.
Yes. It charges by USB, the cable is in the box, and the screen shows the battery left.
Yes. Take only the very tip on small nails. The tool is [OVERALL LENGTH] long.
Owners of dogs with very thick nails that won't fit the cutting head. If nails are badly overgrown, cracked or curling into the pad, see your vet first.
You can't see the quick in a dark nail, even with the LED, so take tiny snips from the tip and stop early. Trimming a little more often beats taking a lot at once.
You can, though a second pair of hands helps with a squirmy pet. Some solo owners hold a cat between their knees. Start with one nail at a sitting.
Many dogs need a trim every few weeks, and indoor pets that don't wear their nails down may need it sooner. If you hear clicking on a hard floor, it's time. Your vet can set a schedule for your pet.
