It works as described. I use the clippers more than the grinder.
Zoe Black
For cat and dog nails. Clip the tip, then smooth the edge with the built-in grinder.
Developed with a veterinarianIn a study of clients at a subsidized grooming program, nail trimming was the task owners felt least sure about, and 45% named fear of hurting their pet as a barrier. Read the study.
Bad light makes you guess. In a dim room it's hard to see where the nail ends and the quick starts.
A fresh cut leaves an edge. That rough tip snags on carpet, furniture and you.
So the trim gets skipped. Then you're paying about $10 to $30 per visit for a job that takes minutes. Typical US prices.

We developed this tool with the help of Dr. Ruth Mercer.
“I'd clip the tip first, then flip the tool over to smooth the edge with the built-in grinder. The LED lights up the nail while you line up the cut.”
Dr. Ruth Mercer

The quick is the living part of the nail. Cut into it and the nail bleeds and hurts, so every trim is about staying past it.
Light nails: you can see the pink. Stay well clear of it.
Dark nails: even with the LED you can't see the quick. Take tiny snips from the tip and stop early.
Cats: press the paw pad gently to extend the nail, then take about 1 to 2 mm off the tip.
Plenty of listings sell the guard as a promise. Here is what it does on a real paw.

It works as described. I use the clippers more than the grinder.
Zoe Black
Good for once a week or so. It takes me longer with these on my dog's rear dewclaws.
Lucy Hunter
They left it out by the garage in the rain and the box was pretty soggy. The inside was dry. I tried the clipper on the dog and it works, but I don't think I'll use the grinder much.
Yvonne Soto
clipper's nice. good grip
Kate Matthews
I use it on my elderly chihuahua. She won't let me hold her feet long and this gets a good cut without a lot of adjusting. I set the trimmer out before I get the blanket for her, so by the time she's on my lap I can do a couple and put it down. Mostly I use the clipper. The other end is good for the one nail she keeps snagging on the couch.
Valeria Lynch
Honestly it makes the clip easy and the file a little fiddly. My wife has an easier time with it than I do.
John Snyder
The box made it to the house even though I had an old address on another order. Glad I double checked. Trimmer's good, worked on Poppy's back feet
Kaitlyn Williams
works on bear's big nails
Chloe Chen
My roommate bought a bigger one and our cat didn't like it. She stayed on the chair for this one, so it's the one we've kept out.
Hannah Yang
Nice blade, easy squeeze.
Noah Pearson
It took me a couple tries to stop covering the light with my finger. Now I can actually see the nail from the side and it's much easier.
Melissa Sanders
The light reflects into my eyes sometimes. Works well if I keep the paw turned
Ariana Romero
nice and easy on my hands
Noah Goodwin
Arrived earlier than I planned. Glad it wasn't left in the sun all afternoon
April Harris
I thought the light would reach further around the nail. Still helpful once I move the hair out of the way
Morgan Kim
Package went around the state before it got to me lol. The trimmer itself is easy once you know which way you want to hold it.
Jackie Graham
My cat had one very long back claw. The light made it easy to pick it out without disturbing the entire cat.
Leslie Price
Three trims down and I still like it. Simple to charge too
Cole Abbott
The grinder doesn't take much off. I used it for the corner of one nail and went back to our old one for the rest.
Hannah Simmons
We got it two days after it shipped. That's good for where we live.
Joel Porter
Like the way it shows the charge instead of blinking at me.
Selena Murray
Works. Wish the screen were brighter
Patrick Bishop
The trim came out better than I exptected. No little flakes at the ends
Logan Collins
Clipped a whole paw with the dog lying across my feet. The light worked in the shadow under the chair
Laura Goodwin
It came with a charge on it. I plugged it in anyway while I fed the cats.
Victoria Norton
love the fact that its rechargeable
Kate Ramirez
Mine charged up easy. I like checking the number before I call the dog into the room
Jose Byrd
Does the front paws on my cat. I still reach for the little scissors for the back.
Darnell Rodriguez
The package was in good shape. I expected the instructions to be bigger than a little slip of paper
Abigail Fernandez
First time I've used a lighted clipper. I won't be going back to holding my phone in my teeth
Alyssa Morales
Works for our giant old orange cat.
Louis Carter
came well wrapped, nothing banged up
Alejandra Arnold
Our package was delivered to the mailroom. I thought the little trimmer would be in a bag but it had its own box, nice surprise
Harold Ortiz
Good clean cut and I can see what I'm doing.
Robert Jenkins
Battery was easy to check with the dog in my lap
Amanda Rice
We use it after baths once our dog has dryed off. She's already tired from trying to eat the towel and sits pretty nicely for the clippers.
Molly Murphy
The only part I've kept using is the light and clipper. For us the grinder is too much fuss
Donna Brown
The grip is comfy. I could do both dogs without my hand getting tired.
Heather Wu
Wasn't sure about flipping it around with a paw in one hand. It feels pretty natural once you do it.
Patrick Zhang
Thumbs up from me 👍
Ella Peterson
The whole trimmer fits in the little bag we take to the pet sitter.
April Hicks
Good for the two claws I usually skip because they're hard to see
Jonathan Porter
At first I thought they hadn't sent a cord. It was right under the cardboard. Everything worked and we did one paw before dinner
April Baldwin
Feels good to hold and easy to line up.
Eddie Lewis
The grinder knocks the sharp bit off. That's what I needed.
Carmen Blake
got mine the other day, used it on 3 paws allready
Bridget Pierce
does the trick on our yorkie
Rafael King
My pup heard the buzz and went straight under the bed. The cutter works if you can get her to sit again
Miguel Holmes
Four short steps. Go slow, and count one nail as a win.
For a few days, touch the paws at a calm moment and give a treat.
Good light, a treat within reach, styptic powder on the table.
Snip the tip of one nail, flip the tool and smooth the edge.
End on a treat and finish the other nails tomorrow.
It happens, even to careful owners. Stay calm, since your pet reads your reaction.
Press styptic powder onto the nail with firm pressure for about 30 seconds. Cornstarch or flour works in a pinch, though not as well. If the bleeding won't stop, call your vet.
Most tools clip or grind. This one does both, so you buy once and keep one thing in the drawer.

No guard can promise that. It limits how far the nail goes in. Small snips from the tip are what keep you clear of the quick.
Stay calm. Press styptic powder on with firm pressure for about 30 seconds. Cornstarch or flour works in a pinch, though not as well. If the bleeding won't stop, call your vet.
Yes. It charges by USB, the cable is in the box, and the screen shows the battery left.
Yes. Take only the very tip on small nails. The tool is [OVERALL LENGTH] long.
Owners of dogs with very thick nails that won't fit the cutting head. If nails are badly overgrown, cracked or curling into the pad, see your vet first.
You can't see the quick in a dark nail, even with the LED, so take tiny snips from the tip and stop early. Trimming a little more often beats taking a lot at once.
You can, though a second pair of hands helps with a squirmy pet. Some solo owners hold a cat between their knees. Start with one nail at a sitting.
Many dogs need a trim every few weeks, and indoor pets that don't wear their nails down may need it sooner. If you hear clicking on a hard floor, it's time. Your vet can set a schedule for your pet.
